How Is The Podcast Industry Changing

The content industry is changing rapidly and it has seen a huge shift from long-form content to short-form content. And that is what we’ll be talking about in this blog.

Why Mini Podcasts?

Nowadays, there are several kinds of entertainment available out there for consumers. As informative or entertaining as they are, creating long-form content requires plenty of resources and time investment, which initially might not be possible for brands to have.

On the other hand, short content is better to plan, produce and repurpose. Reports say that they’re even better for attracting younger audiences. This is exactly why Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts are becoming the ideal form of content opted for by brands.

But what about the audio industry? We’re living in an age of micro-content, and there’s no reason why audio shouldn’t get a slice of the pie.

Hence, we’re seeing mini podcasts on the rise because it’s all about making snackable content for your audience that can be consumed quickly. Also, to create awareness and habit of something, short-form content is the way to go.

But having said all that, there are also very few good bite-sized podcasts in the market. This is why AudStory has come out with Odd Stories, a series of short podcasts that are less than 5 minutes long!

A little story behind Odd Stories?

Where did the idea come from?

Back in the day, we used to see these radio jockeys who did a lot of outdoor broadcast activities like talking to people on the road. Even nowadays, we’re observing a return to this trend on YouTube where people go to public places and ask questions to random strangers. But we haven’t seen something like this in the podcast space yet, especially in India.

And that’s how we came up with this idea of creating podcasts on the road. All we do is go on the streets and ask people if they have a story to share with the world, if they say yes, we give them the microphone and they give us their story. We convert these stories into bite-sized podcasts where each episode tells a new odd story.

We’re still not sure if this podcast idea is going to be a success or a failure, this is something experimental even for us, and we’re hoping our idea will be loved by many of you.

So there it was AudStory’s Odd Stories that are your stories.
