For many, living a life of passion feels unrealistic. More often than not, we feel like passion will come to us, and there is nothing that we can do to find it. My story started on something very similar.
Like every college student, I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do with life. Trying new things, finding new jobs. Possibilities were endless. Until one day, when I came across a job opportunity as a copywriter for a Media Company and went straight for the job interview. But that’s where my life turned on a new leaf. While listening to my stories and the way I narrated them, she was taken by surprise and asked if I wanted to be a Radio Jockey instead. I was instantly lured by the idea and agreed to it.
Gradually, I started relishing the art of Storytelling. It was something that was always deep-rooted within me and I realised that it was something I truly loved doing, and it never felt like work. And then continued on the journey for over six years. These years have given me a push, toward what they call, my passion. Over the six-year span, I organised over 100 shows, hosted a lot of interviews and weaved millions of stories.
While I did Pivot to working as a Sales and Marketing head, I always knew where my heart was. The art that Storytelling was. While working as the head there, one thing that always worked in my favour was the skills that I learned over the years. The fact, that I could manage and convince people and managed expos and a lot of events for the Company.
Now, as we all already know, everybody who loved radio, jumped on the Bandwagon of Podcasts since the time it has been introduced in India. Although the term was new, it was all the same, in the sense, that we still loved listening to and narrating stories from a plethora of genres. Thus, it is needless to mention, that Podcasts quickly caught my attention.
So, when the lockdown began, I started getting work as a freelancer, which gave me the confidence to start again with the skills that I’ve inhabited in the years to start as a Podcasting Consultant and started with my passion project, AudStory. There is no looking back since.
Whilst the journey of my career, I have realised that discovering our passion is more about changing our mindsets to accepting more possibilities that come our way, and doing what comes our way with everything that we’ve got. Be ready and open to changes, until you find what you’re passionate about. JUST START, no matter how clueless you feel at the beginning. Realize that life happens for you, not to you – but you must listen to what it’s telling you. Passion comes from the heart, not the head. Chances are, you already know what your passion is. You just need to connect with it.
For now, the blog shall work. Maybe someday, I might make a Podcast on “ how to find your passion”. But until then, keep finding more of what your heart wants.
