5 Business Podcasts Indian Entrepreneurs Should Listen For Inspiration

by | Apr 9, 2021 | 0 comments

As per Indian Start-up ecosystem, India has the 3rd largest startup ecosystem in the world; expected to witness YoY growth of a consistent annual growth of 12-15%. India has more than 55,000 startups registered. Another interesting fact to acknowledge here is 90% of these start-ups fail within the first three years of their formation.

The reasons are many. But one of the major reasons is lack of mentorship and constant dose of motivation. One of the 1st ever podcasts I heard was Ted Talks, though it wasn’t out of choice but I was still made to listen to it.  I immediately understood the importance of listening to some inspirational entrepreneurial stories. I realized that they would set my mood for the day and help me battle my entrepreneurial challenges in a better way.

Keeping that feeling in mind, I am sharing a few business podcasts which I love to listen.  This listicle has podcasts which not only focus on providing you a daily dose of inspiration but also cater to different aspects of business, like marketing, picking up nuances of business, business strategy, understanding the market and way beyond.

1) The Indian Start-up Show

By Neil Patel

The Indian Start-Up show is hosted by the very popular entrepreneur, SEO Expert, Investor, Neil Patel. This podcast started in August 2015 and it still going strong. Well, trust Neil Patel to work with every marketing communication channel. ? This is a weekly podcast where Neil interviews Indian Start-up entrepreneurs and understands their journey.

What I love

Well, what I love about this podcast is the uniqueness and diversity of his guests. All his guest entrepreneurs have such amazing and different products/services to talk about in his show that it actually makes you wonder that how talented we, Indians are. The format and the guestlist fit well with his brand yet they add value and make people like me realise that there is so much to learn. The only small thing which I didn’t like that much was the podcast music. It seemed too cliched. Having said that, overall the experience to listen to his finds is astounding.

2) 100X Entrepreneur

By Siddhartha Ahluwalia

This podcast started in 2019 and it covers the stories of leaders, entrepreneurs, mentors from the VC and Startup Community. They share their journeys, milestones, challenges and growth strategies with the listeners. Some of the podcast episodes are sponsored by Prime Venture Partners.

What I love

What I love in this podcast is that you can actually track the growth of the podcaster and the show since 2019. The guest mix is really appealing and some of the episodes are truly motivating and journeys shared are raw, relatable and encouraging. Just the right amount of daily dose of positivity what a startup owner will need. Some of the highlighting episodes are with Co-founders of Mama Earth, Abhishek Asthana and Kunal Bahl.

3) Masters Of Scale

By Reid Hoffman

When the co-founder of LinkedIn starts a podcast then it actually has to be a gold mine for businessmen out there. Right from Brian Chesky of Airbnb to Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, every successful entrepreneur has featured on his podcast. Trust Reid to get the best entrepreneurs ever to share their stories with you. Global brands Starbucks, Nike, Facebook, Instagram, Netflix are covered with the detailed information on how they have been built over the years.

What I love

This is definitely not a typical, serious business podcast. Instead this is a Bollywood version of a business podcast, where you have intense background score, sound effects, drama, anti-climax and climax. In all, this one is lighter to the ears yet full of takeaways for any budding or growing entrepreneur.

4) The Indian Dream

By Sahil and Siddharth

While the whole of startup world is obsessed with VC funding these two podcast hosts narrate the stories of bootstrapped, risk-taker entrepreneurs to let the world know that successful businesses can be run without money-pumping machinery like VC funding.

What I love

This podcast brings out the other aspect of Startup Ecosystem where in entrepreneurs in India can survive on bootstrapping and self-funding. They may not be as popular as these VC funded startups initially but they do make their mark due to strong operational structure, better finance management and consistent growth over the period of time. Being a sucker of all success stories and studying their growth hacks and strategies, this podcast definitely a value add for me and gives a fresh perspective.

5) Let’s Do Shots!

By Siddhant More (MOM)

Now this one is different from the rest. Siddhant More of MOM shares some super interesting brand marketing stories which you might or might not have heard of. His podcast episodes are just of 4-5 minutes which means these are short, crisp and fascinating. Brands and their sometimes bizarre and sometimes nice, warm and kind stories are gripping and fun to listen.

What I love

Well, what I love is these 5 minutes infotainment shots about marketing tactics, bizarre facts and captivating marketing hacks these globally popular brands use. These stories are full of information and just because they are short and gripping in nature, you just start binge listening to this podcast. I follow the brand on Instagram as well and I must say, coming from India this podcast and its approach is fresh and the content is world-class.

My 1st encounter with podcasts was from business category. Though I found them boring at that time but eventually started loving them and they became the best part of my morning drive to my workplace.
